How does Tipping feature work?

Sharing is caring, but tipping is better! We’ve introduced a way to show some serious love to your favorite creators and friends on mewe using the new Tipping feature. Whether it's an epic long-form post, a breathtaking photo, or just a profile you really admire, you can now send tips through tokens directly to them!

What is Tipping?

Q: What exactly is the Tipping feature on mewe? Think of it as a digital high five that actually counts. It allows you to send tips to other users to show appreciation for their content or their overall presence on mewe. (p.s. yes, tokens are real currencies not just gaming tokens!)

Q: Where can I tip? You can tip a users profile from Android/iOS and profiles and content from the web.You can also tip on Events, and User Profiles themselves. Currently, tipping on Pages is not supported.

Q: How do I start tipping? First, connect to a Wallet! If you don't have one yet, don't worry, the app will guide you through a quick setup the first time you try to tip someone and you can visit here to learn more about the digital wallet.

How to Send a Tip

Q: How do I actually send a tip? Just tap the Tip button on a post or profile. A window will pop up where you can enter the amount. We’ll show your unique wallet address (shortened for safety) and check your balance instantly to make sure you're good to go!

Q: Can I tip myself? Nice try! But no. The Tip button is only visible on other people's content and profiles. Self-love is great, but self-tipping isn't a thing.  

Q: What if the person I want to tip doesn't have a Wallet? You should see a message saying “Tip receiver doesn’t have a wallet yet.” then, we’ll notify them so they get a little nudge saying, "Hey, [Name] wanted to send you a tip!" to encourage them to set one up.

How to Collect Your Tips

Q: I got a tip! How do I spend it? First, you have to collect it. Tips don't just land in your balance automatically. You can claim them by tapping the notification you received or by going to Wallet → Earn.

Q: Can I bulk-Claim all the tips? Each tip must be claimed individually. Treat each of them like a little digital thank you note.

Q: Do tips expire? Yes! You have 1 month to collect a tip from the day it was sent. If you wait longer than that, the tip expires and disappears from your view. Don't leave your friends hanging, claim those tokens!

Q: Are there any fees involved? To keep this feature alive & thrive, a 15% processing fee is applied when you Claim. This is so we enable the secure transfer of tokens from point A to point B.

Troubleshooting & Safety

Q: Why is my Claim button blocked? To claim a tip, you need a tiny bit of balance in your wallet to cover the processing fee. If your balance is zero, you'll see a clear message explaining that you need to top up slightly to collect your tip.

Q: Where can I see my history? A: Every tip you send or receive is recorded for you to see. Just head to your Wallet → Balance → Transactions list to see your full history.

Q: Is it safe? Absolutely. Your wallet address is always shortened in the UI to protect your privacy, and transactions are processed securely through your connected wallet.
