To ensure a safe environment for everyone and to comply with recent regional regulations, we are introducing a new, secure age verification process for mewe users located in Australia, Brazil, and Texas.

We know that whenever a social network asks for verification, the first question on your mind is: "What about my privacy?"

We want to assure you that remaining true to our commitment to our users' privacy and data ownership is our top priority. To make this happen, we’ve partnered with k-ID, a privacy-first verification platform.

Here is everything you need to know about how this process works, how we protect your data, and what you need to do to keep using mewe.

Your Privacy Always Comes First

We believe that your personal information belongs to you. That’s why our age verification process is designed to be completely anonymous and secure:

• mewe never sees your ID. We do not have access to the documents or details you use to verify your age.

• k-ID does not store your data. Your information is verified securely in real-time and is never saved, copied, or stored by k-ID.

• We only see the result. Once verification is complete, k-ID simply sends mewe a "PASS" or "FAIL" outcome. mewe only stores this outcome on your account, nothing else.

What This Means for You

Whether you are just joining mewe or you've been a member for years, here is what to expect if you are located in Australia, Brazil, or Texas:

For New Users

If you are creating a new mewe account, you will be prompted to complete a quick age verification step during registration via k-ID.

• Please note: You must receive a "PASS" verification result to successfully create your account. If the verification is not completed or does not pass, the registration process cannot be finished.

For Existing Users

If you already have a mewe account, you will receive a prompt to verify your age the next time you open the app or log in on the web.

• The 7-Day Grace Period: You will have 7 days to complete the verification process.

• What happens after 7 days? If you haven't verified your age within the 7-day grace period, your mewe account will be temporarily locked. Don't worry, your account, posts, and connections are not deleted! You will simply need to complete the k-ID verification to unlock your account and regain full access.

How long does the verification process take? Thanks to k-ID’s technology, the verification process usually takes just a few seconds to complete!
